Vern McClelland is an Associate Broker for RE/MAX of Lloydminster and a partner with the Midwest Group. Fully licensed in Alberta and Saskatchewan, he carries a membership with both the Lloydminster and Saskatoon Real Estate Boards. In 2014, Vern was honored to earn RE/MAX International's Lifetime Achievement Award for distinguished service to the industry.
Experienced in all aspects of real estate, both urban and rural, Vern specializes in development having successfully marketed a number of subdivisions for residential, acreage recreation, and commercial or industrial purposes. To date in his career, he has personally represented over 2,000 properties from individual lots to multi-million dollar projects.
Vern has been a contributing editor to The Lloydminster Source since 2005, writing a weekly column on real estate issues of interest to readers in Canada's Midwest and the team's international clientele. In 2015, he was elected to the board of the Saskatchewan Real Estate Commission as one of only two directors from outside of the four major urban centers. This was followed by an appointment to the legislative and compliance committee that oversees the conduct of industry professionals in the province.
Prior to entering real estate in 2003, Vern acted as a management consultant to over 50 Canadian companies, non-profit organizations, First Nations, provincial and federal Crown agencies assisting them with planning and strategic business development. During this time, he successfully guided the creation of fourteen public/private partnerships, the largest being the introduction of high speed internet service to northern and remote communities.
A graduate of Banff School of Management, he holds the educational equivalent of a master's in health care administration. In his 23 years in health services, Vern served as chief executive officer for several regional health organizations, the largest having over 2,100 employees, and was honored to be appointed as a special advisor to the Saskatchewan Deputy Minister of Health.
In partnership with his wife and son, Vern also plays an active role in the daily activities of the family ranch located outside of Maidstone, Saskatchewan. Originally established by his grandfather in 1905, the family manages a 300 head cow-calf herd plus a bred heifer development program and backgrounding feedlot.
